HAIR TRANSPLANT

Hair Transplants for
Women
Hair
transplantation of
female patients has
been an important
part of our hair
restoration
practice. There
still persist in
some places the
belief that hair
transplants are not
helpful for women
with hair loss. This
view point could not
be more wrong. With
the use of a large
number of small
grafts, women can be
greatly helped with
hair
transplantation.

Hair Transplants for
Men.
For
each patient that
presents to us for
hair
transplantation, our
goal is to try and
achieve as much
naturalness and
density as possible.
We feel these two
goals are best
achieved when the
plan is
individualized for
each patient,
depending on the
characteristics of
that patient's donor
hair.

Raleigh, North Carolina Hair Transplant Surgery:
The Permanent Hair Restoration Solution
Surgical hair transplant and
restoration, like all other plastic surgeries, is an art. It
requires an expert surgeon like Dr. Grant Koher, with over
twenty-two years of experience and a trained hand to create
the most natural appearing results that are undetectable to
even the most critical eye.
At Jernigan's, we realize that
every patient has unique needs and desires. Therefore, each
patient's treatment plan is customized based on age, hair
type, general health, degree of hair loss and overall
expectations.
Dr. Grant Koher is
board-certified, and renowned for his keen aesthetic sense
in performing hair transplants and his exceptional surgical
skills.
Surgical
Hair Transplants: Raleigh, North Carolina
Our
basic philosophic approach begins with a time-honored
principle: “Do one thing and do it well.” At Jernigan's Hair
Replacement Clinic in Raleigh, we don’t do face lifts, tummy
tucks, breast implants, etc. We concentrate our energies on
performing the best hair transplantation procedures
possible, including eyebrow transplants.
We move
four to six times as much hair as the standard approach,
using follicular unit grafts throughout producing a
completely natural result.
Skill,
Artistry, Technique.
The
decision to take action against hair loss can be, for some
individuals, a difficult one. By choosing the most qualified
hair restoration expert, the decision becomes an easier one
to make.
However, no surgeon can achieve this goal alone. Hair
transplantation, perhaps more that any other surgical
procedure, depends on the assistance of skilled medical
personnel in a ‘team’ framework.
Knowledge and Experience
The relationship between
Dr. Grant Koher and each
one of his patients is a very personal one.
Each patient is treated as a unique
individual.
Doctor Koher personally conducts each
consultation, and performs each hair
transplant procedure in an unhurried manner,
one at a time, with no other distractions.
The results have been extremely high patient
satisfaction and an reputation for
excellence among his peers.
We try very hard to match the realistic
expectations of our patients with what we
can actually achieve. Before any surgery is
ever scheduled, Dr. Koher always makes
certain that a strong sense of mutual trust
exists between himself and the patient.
Everything we do – the time and care with
which we approach each procedure at our
clinic – is geared toward creating a natural
result that is both priceless and timeless.
Different
Hair Transplant Methods
At Jernigans in Raleigh, Dr. Koher's
outstanding professional staff is thoroughly
trained in the very latest hair transplant
techniques.
Regarding what types of grafts are to be
used, we are not “locked in” or programmed
to do hair transplantation with only one
narrowly defined method, but rather offer
highly refined, follicular unit transplant
sessions as well as "combination" sessions,
which feature the use of both FU grafts and
MFU's (multi-follicular grafts) in
combination with Follicular unit extraction
(FUE).

Surgical Hair Transplantation for Women
Women are often embarrassed and self
conscious of their hair loss. Day to day
styling only reminds them even more of the
struggle in dealing with their thinning
hair. Women experience hair loss for many
reasons. The most common is called
androgenetic alopecia which is an overall
thinning of top and sides of the scalp.
Other reasons for hair loss in women can be
from medical problems such as hormonal
changes, thyroid disease. Even new
medications and life altering events can
lead to hair loss. In fact over 30 million
women live with this condition everyday.
Women thought for a long time that wigs and
hair pieces were their only option. But over
the last several years women are realizing
that they are also great candidates for hair
transplant surgery. Hair transplants can
thicken up a thin area, place hair in a bald
area, restore a hairline and even recreate
your temporal points.
The transformation in the appearance of a
woman who has undergone hair transplant
surgery can be quite dramatic, even after
only two sessions. For most women, two or
three sessions are required to achieve
optimal results.
It is generally a well accepted fact that
women are usually much more devastated by
hair loss than men, because it is not
socially accepted for a woman to have less
than a "full head of hair." It is very
gratifying to restore the “fullness” to the
hair of such patients. Learn more

The Facts About Hair Transplants
What is Hair
Transplantation?
Hair transplantation is simply the
transferring of hair from a "permanent" area
of the scalp to another area in which hair
has fallen out due to heredity or some other
more unusual cause. This "permanent" hair is
harvested in the form of a narrow "strip" of
hair, which is then meticulously cut up
under microscopic magnification to produce
hundreds of tiny follicular unit grafts of
1-3 hairs each. Also, in some
sessions, small “multi-FU grafts” of two or
three
adjacent follicular units are used.
Does Hair Transplant Surgery Really Work?
Yes. The transplanted hair is removed from
one area of the scalp (donor site) which has
been genetically pre-programmed to produce
healthy hair for a lifetime. Then using
magnification, follicular unit grafts
containing one, two, three or four hairs are
meticulously transferred called “planting”
into the bald or thinning areas the
recipient site.
What
Does Hair Restoration Surgery Involve?
Hair
transplant surgery for men as well as
hair transplant surgery for women is done under
local anesthetic on an outpatient basis. A
routine panel of blood work is required prior
to the procedure. The procedure is done in
one day. The amount of grafts dictates the
amount of time needed. Lunch is served and
clients usually watch a movie of their
choice during the procedure. Afterwards,
they are usually able to drive themselves
home. Follow-up care is thoroughly explained
and Dr. Grant Koher and his staff are available
twenty-four hours a day after surgery to
answer questions.
